Universal Avionics' Latest Upgrade: UNS-1E, -1F, and -1L 'Super FMSes'

In a recent move to incorporate systems growth in preparation for the communication, navigation, surveillance/air traffic management (CNS/ATM) future flight environment, Universal Avionics has developed more advanced active matrix flat panel displays. The new UNS-1E, -1F, and -1L 'super FMSes' feature higher contrast and resolution, as well as a wider viewing angle compared to their predecessors.

The latest upgrade includes the addition of an integral 12-channel GPS/GLONASS receiver, which enables weather and terrain awareness warning system (TAWS) displays. This feature is available for retrofit in -1C, -1D, and -1K models by the second quarter of this year.

The databases include extensive information to support flight planning, navigation, vertical guidance (VNav), fuel management, radio frequency management, and an extensive library of messages and alerts.
